You don't know me but I am Graciela's (Michael's mom) sister and I often find myself thinking about you and your beloved son.  I found a beautiful poem and I wanted to share it with on this sad day.


What Makes A Mother?

I thought of you and closed my eyes
and prayed to God today
I asked "What makes a Mother?"
and I know I heard Him say

"A Mother has a baby"
This we know is true
"But, God, can you be a Mother
When your baby's not with you?"
"Yes, you can" He replied
With confidence in His voice
"I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice

Some I send for a lifetime
And others for a day
And some I send to feel your womb
But there's no need to stay"

"I just don't understand this, God
I want my baby here"
He took a breath and cleared His throat
And then I saw a tear

"I wish that I could show you
What your child is doing today
If you could see your child smile
With other children and say

'We go to Earth to learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear
My Mommy loved me oh so much
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom
Who had so much love for me
I learned my lesson very quickly
My Mommy set me free

I miss my Mommy oh so much
But I visit her each day
When she goes to sleep
On her pillow's where I lay

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And whisper in her ear
Mommy, don't be sad today
I'm your baby and I'm here'

"So you see my dear sweet one
Your children are okay
Your babies are in My home
And this is where they'll stay

They'll wait for you with Me
Until our lesson is through
And on the day that you come home
They'll be at the gates for you

So now you see what makes a Mother
It's the feeling in your heart
It's the love you had so much of

Though some on Earth may not realize

I'm so sorry for your loss...I know you are grieving Andre's death and always will be.  I know you will never feel NORMAL again. This year has been very difficult for you and I know the years ahead will only get worse.  I know that Andre will always be your first thought when you wake up and your last thought when you go to sleep...he will always be forever in your heart.  Please know I think of Andre everyday and I feel sad that he is not here with you ...with us.  I miss him and love him very much.

I don't know what you are feeling right now Lupe because I have not lost a child like you have but I can only imagine your pain.  Everytime I see you it breaks my heart because I know you are hurting inside and I'm not sure how to act around you.  I know you are being strong in front of us and I don't want to make you feel sad so I act like things are Normal.  I know that things will never be Normal again.   Andre was a big part of our family and always will be.

Hey andre i wanted to wish you a happy birthday and let you know i miss you a lot. Everytime i pass by your house i think of all the times you would teach me new tricks on my skateboard. I would always look foward to skating up there because you would always come out to talk to me and give me tips. Then there were the times that we both got go-peds and went racing around the block. you always had the lead till we reached the hill, thats when i used my small size to my advantage and i know you will never forget the time when jeff hit a rock and fell. thanks again for those autographs you got me too, they are hanging up in my room. i will never forget you and want to wish you happy birthday again.
